Program Description

The Lisbon program is ideal for students interested in living and studying in one of the oldest, most beautiful, and most affordable port cities in Europe. The program enables you to study at a top-ranked university in Portugal, selecting from a wide range of undergraduate courses taught in English – including cultural studies, social sciences, humanities, language, politics, philosophy, economics, and business (AACSB accredited). The university offers several courses each term focused on Portuguese studies and European integration, along with foreign language classes taught at all levels. You may choose to participate in the summer session, a single fall or spring semester, or a full academic year.

Known as the “city of the seven hills,” Lisbon offers breathtaking views of both urban landscapes and coastal scenery. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and the second-oldest European capital city. Today, it serves as the country’s political, economic, and cultural hub, home to the nation’s government, courts, and diplomatic offices. The city has something for everyone – historical monuments, shopping, gardens and parks, festivals, water sports, restaurants and cafés, museums, sporting events, sandy beaches, and more. And its world-famous architectural wonders are truly a sight to behold.

There are several excellent reasons for deciding to study in Portugal. Courses at European universities are taught by professors who do almost all the teaching with undergraduates while maintaining a high level of research activity. Although Portugal has been a member of the European Union since 1986, the country has maintained its own diverse traditions, values, and views of the world. Time in Lisbon will challenge you personally, open your eyes to different ways of looking at the current topics in our world, and enable you to experience European culture and history.
